Here are the bios of our dance instructors.
Marques Gunter
Marques, founder of SalsaIndy, is a young and energetic dancer. Marques discovered Latin dance here in Indianapolis 5 years ago. His love for both the Latin music and dance has fueled his desire teach, perform and compete in the midwest.
Instructor for the 2008 and 2009 Cincinnati Salsa Congress
Performer at the 2007 Colombus Salsa Fest
Performed at various local functions (Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Eli Lilly, DFAS, etc)
Placed third in the 2006 IntoSalsa Dance competition
Marques currently teaches group lessons in downtown Indianapolis (Riolo Dance Studio) and in Broad Ripple (Jazz Kitchen) and performs for large and small audiences.
All levels of salsa, bachata and merengue.
Chimere Cross
I have been dancing salsa for over 3 1/2 years. I have won first place in the professional division in the 2007 2nd Annual IntoSlasa Dance competition and performed in Lonnie Lester concerts which was publically televised. I have also taught styling at the Cincinnati Congress in 2008 and local workshops here in Indy. If you are looking for a workout, that's not what I teach. I will teach you to dance. I am very passionate about salsa and anyone can see that when I dance. I am also available to teach private lessons.
Jennifer Luna
Has been dancing since the age of 7, and has a diversified background in Dance. She began learning Salsa and other Latin dances about 5 years ago, and fell in love with the music and the movements of all of the dances. She has a degree in Latin American and Caribbean Dance - History and Performance.
Jennifer teaches the group classes at Riolo. She has performed locally for corporate functions (including events by DFAS, Eli Lilly, and more), the State Fair, 2007 & 2009 Columbus Ohio Salsa Fest, 2009 Cincinatti Salsa Festival, and the 2009 Chicago Salsa Congress. Jennifer is also the Artistic Director for Damas Inspiradas, Indianapolis' first all ladies dance team! She is available for private lessons, private group classes and performances in Indianapolis and the sourrounding area.
Available to teach and perform: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, ChaChaCha (and much more!)
No partner required for lessons, male or female!
Kyle Culmann
Kyle began dancing just after high school and immediately fell in love with Latin rhythms. Previously participating in speech and theatre, Kyle has always had an innate desire to perform. His salsa performances include competitions, the Indiana State Fair and much more.
Currently, Kyle teaches at Riolo and at the Jazz Kitchen. He is available for private lessons and private group lessons for Salsa and Bachata.
Ryan Hutchins
You may have seen me on the dance floor before. I have performed with several different performance groups including IntoSalsa, SalsaIndy, and People, Paint, and Percussion. I am available for group lessons and private lessons.(If female then no partner required)
All levels of salsa, bachata, and merengue.
